Where is the right place to order pure wood with antique design furniture?
it must be hand-made, not by advanced machine
eg. carved by skillful hands
It is nearly impossible to find handcrafted furniture made without the use of machines. I build furniture and consider my product hand-crafted as my products are totally solid wood, (no plywood, no particle board), and I take no shortcuts in joinery or fasteners. That being said, to create my product without the use of table-saws, joiners, and routers would increase my labor time 10-fold and not likely produce as good of a product. My furniture already sells for 3 to 4 times the price of the Chinese junk you'll find at a Furniture store and to increase my labor by 700% would result in zero buyers. There are Amish groups in PA and OH that do a good job hand-crafting furniture, (search Lancaster, PA for one), but they still use machinery to conform the lumber to specification. If you ever get a chnace to go to Williamsburg, VA I would suggest that you visit their furniture shop where they still build furniture as they did in 1776. They used to put these pieces up for sale but now they use them for "replica pieces" in the various homes in the village. Back when they did sell these pieces to the public, (10 years ago or so), a dresser would take 4 to 6 weeks to build and sell for about $5000. Compare that to my average price of $2300 or the Chinese junk price of $400 and you can understand why there are not a lot of people doing this. My advice to you would be to look for a well taken care of antique piece, but be prepared for sticker shock because well made antiques do not go for a bargain.
